RELAY EXCHANGE TRAINING: A PARENT & ATHLETE GUIDE

· 5 min read · By Stride Nation Elite

Relay races combine individual speed with team precision. The exchange zone is where championships are won or lost — a smooth handoff can overcome a slower leg; a dropped baton ends the race.

Stride Nation Elite teaches verbal cues ('stick!') and visual targets so outgoing runners accelerate into the zone while incoming runners push through the exchange. Athletes practice at sub-max speed before full-speed reps.

Order matters: coaches assign legs based on curve running ability, acceleration, and anchor leg strength. The 4x100 demands sharp exchanges; the 4x200 allows slightly more room for error.

Our Schindewolf district relay champions — with verified school-record marks — joined SNE with relay experience that elevates the whole team.

Watch our athlete videos and meet results to see relay development in action, then talk to coaches about relay assignments for your athlete's age group.
