WHAT IS USATF TRACK & FIELD?

· 5 min read · By Stride Nation Elite

USA Track & Field (USATF) is the national governing body for the sport in the United States — from youth development through Olympic competition. USATF sets technical rules, maintains national records, and sanctions elite-level competitions.

Not every Stride Nation Elite athlete needs USATF membership for every meet. Our primary summer circuit runs through AAU. However, some meets, record submissions, and championship pathways require USATF registration.

USATF membership may be required when your athlete competes in USATF-sanctioned events or pursues national ranking pathways outside the AAU circuit. Coaches and Operations will communicate when USATF registration applies to your schedule.

USATF-certified coaches on our staff train athletes using nationally recognized technical standards — starts, sprint mechanics, hurdle form, and relay exchanges.

Read our Parent Guide for a side-by-side look at AAU, USATF, and TAAF — then contact Operations if you're unsure which memberships your athlete needs this season.
